Facial Exercises Help to Reduce Eye Wrinkles

As we age, our skin starts to wrinkle and sag because of a loss of collagen and other external factors such as the sun, health issues, smoking and injuries. Since we can’t stop the inevitable, there are certain steps we can take to reduce the appearance of eye wrinkles and other facial sagging. One way is by doing facial exercises!

Facial exercises are a great way to tighten up your face, while saving time and money. Think of these exercises like weight lifting. Lifting weights help to tighten and tone your body. Apply this same reasoning to your face. If you are doing contractions and applied resistance to specific muscles in your face, your skin will in turn tighten, increase muscle size and provide a natural face lift. Facial exercises can reduce droop jowls and cheeks, tighten your whole face and help diminish the signs of eye wrinkles and puffy eyes.

There are two different types of exercises: isometric and resistance. In a nut shell, isometric exercises tone and firm face muscles. It can be uncommon to have dramatic results with this form of exercise. It is greatly dependant upon your age and if you have extensive muscle loss.

Resistance exercises, on the other hand, work to strengthen and build your muscles. This is the form that brings all the much needed oxygen and nutrients to your face to feed your staved skin cells. These exercises really fill out and lift up your face. In my opinion, resistance is more effective and much more time efficient.

This is one of my favorite facial exercises I do daily! It’s specializes on eliminating forehead wrinkles. First step is to lift your eyebrows up as far as you can. Then, put your fingers at the top of your forehead. Slide your fingers down toward your eyebrows in a smooth motion. Think of it as pushing your raised forehead back down.

When your fingers meet your eyebrows, lower your forehead into a frown and slide your fingers back up to your hairline. You are doing the exact opposite as the previous step. Now you are trying to push your forehead back up. When you have done this, you have completed 1 set. Make sure to do 10 sets each day!

Although we can’t completely stop the aging process (although we would all like to), we can now put up a good fight to help reduce signs of aging and wrinkles! Good luck ladies!

Sleeping Positions to Prevent Eye Wrinkles

I’ve always been a side-sleeper. Lately I’ve noticed that as I’ve gotten older, my eye wrinkles are more pronounced when I first wake up in the morning. They gradually lighten a bit after I shower and prepare for my day, but I’m beginning to see that the years of sleeping on my side are etching lines into my face. Yikes!

According to the American Academy of Dermatology and WebMD, I’m not alone. The AAD cautions that sleeping in the same position every night can lead to the formation of “sleep lines,” which are lines that become etched into your skin’s surface while you sleep and don’t disappear once you’re awake.

Think about it. You know that making repetitive facial movements, like squinting and smiling, can eventually create eye wrinkles and crows feet. These sleep lines are formed the same way. When you sleep on your stomach, the skin on your forehead often gets bunched up, which can lead to forehead creases. Sleeping on your side can cause your cheeks to scrunch up toward your eyes, forming wrinkles under and around the eyes.

So what can we do? Besides investing in a good anti eye wrinkle cream, the AAD suggests sleeping on your back to reduce eye wrinkle formation. If you’re like me and tend to switch positions often while sleeping, try putting pillows on either side of you to act as bumpers. These pillows will help prop you up and keep you on your back the whole night.

Best wishes for sweet dreams and a wrinkle-free morning!

How to Get A Tan Without Getting Eye Wrinkles

It’s getting to be that time of year again - vacation time!  If you’re headed to the beach, you probably don’t want to stick out by being the palest person there.  Rather than your pasty skin announcing that it’s your first day of vacation, you can look like you’ve been at the beach for weeks already.

No, I’m not talking about tanning beds.  Tanning is actually the leading cause of premature wrinkles.  Avoid the eye wrinkles and sun damage by applying sunless self tanner instead.  There are many different effective brands of self tanner for your body that you can buy at local drugstores.  My favorite is Neutrogena.  However, you shouldn’t use the same self tanner on your face as you do on the rest of your body.  Self tanners for the body are not formulated for use on the face and can clog pores.  Instead, get a self tanner that is specifically for the face.

The best self tanner for face that I’ve found is called Fake Bake Anti-Aging Facial Self Tanner.  In addition to being lightweight and streak-free, it contains powerful eye wrinkle fighters such as moisturizing tocopherol (vitamin E) and Matrixyl (palmitoyl pentapeptide), which is also found in highly effective anti aging and eye wrinkle creams such as StriVectin and Olay eye products.

Fake Bake Anti-Aging Facial Self Tanner

To apply the face tanner, first wash your face thoroughly and use an exfoliating scrub to remove any dead skin.  Once your face is dry, squeeze about a quarter size of the self tanner into your hands.  Starting at your cheekbones, thoroughly rub the self tanner all over your face.  It’s important to get a thin layer of self tanner evenly distributed all over your face.  To create an authentic sun-kissed look, you can apply a thin second layer to just your cheekbones and top of your nose, where the sun hits your face the most.  Next, thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.  Pay particular attention to scrubbing your knuckles and between your fingers, where the self tanner tends to collect.

Once the self tanner is dry, apply your eye wrinkle cream and sunscreen with spf 15 or higher.  You’re on your way to being a bronzed - and wrinkle-free - beach beauty!

Breaking Eye Wrinkles News: FDA Approves At-Home Eye Wrinkles Laser

The FDA has just approved an at-home laser device for removing eye wrinkles.

On Friday, June 5, 2009, the FDA gave Palomar Medical Technologies, Inc. approval to market this eye wrinkles laser system over the counter directly to consumers.  Palomar, which researches and develops light-based cosmetic treatment systems, developed the laser device in conjunction with Johnson and Johnson Consumer Companies.

Joseph Caruso, CEO of Palomar, describes the eye wrinkles laser as a major breakthrough.  “The professional treatment of fine lines and wrinkles using lasers has been well established and proven to be safe and effective for years in the doctors’ office using large and expensive lasers,” Caruso says.  “With this breakthrough, consumers will be able to use similar technology in the privacy of their own home for a fraction of the cost.”

Dr. Marc Siegel, a practicing Internist and Associate Professor at the NYU School of Medicine, appeared on Fox News to discuss this new laser.  He says that it’s a high-intensity laser light that you point at your eye wrinkles, and it actually destroys part of the skin tissue while leaving the elastic tissue.  However, he states that “It doesn’t work that well.  It is safe, and the FDA is probably right letting it go over the counter.”  He also says that it’s “very expensive” at about $500, and it only reduces the appearance of “very tiny wrinkles.”  Dr. Siegal says that you have to use it “2 or 3 times a day for 20 or 30 minutes over a long period of time in order to get it to work.”

He believes that the most effective eye wrinkle treatments can be found at the dermatologist office.  Dermatologists use a more powerful laser called a fractionated CO2 laser, which uses carbon dioxide to get rid of wrinkles and works very well.  Dr. Seigel also stated, “If you want to keep eye wrinkles away, use sunscreen, get plenty of sleep, exercise and don’t smoke.”

No word yet on when and where this eye wrinkles laser will be available for purchase.

The Anti-Inflammatory Diet to Prevent Eye Wrinkles

We know that sun damage, smoking, pollution and stress are factors that cause eye wrinkles.  Dermatologist Dr. Nicholas Perricone suggests another cause: inflammation.

In the video below, Dr. Perricone explains that daily living and regular metabolism causes a low-grade cellular inflammation in the body, which shows up over time in different organs - wrinkles in the skin, cardiovascular disease in arteries, etc.  So, an anti-inflammatory diet can not only prevent wrinkles, but can also prevent other age-related conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.

Foods that prevent inflammation include fish (he recommends salmon), good fats (don’t always opt for fat-free!), good carbohydrates such as beans and lentils, and fresh fruits and vegetables.  The more color on your plate the better, because that means you’re consuming more free radical-fighting antioxidants, which are natural anti-inflammatory agents.

In addition to an anti-inflammatory diet, Dr. Perricone suggests taking nutritional supplements such as alpha lipoic acid and vitamin C ester.  He also recommends using a high quality topical eye wrinkle cream that penetrates the skin and decreases inflammation.

Check out Dr. Perricone’s video below (in my opinion, the best information is in the first two minutes or so):

How to prevent wrinkles
According to Dr. Perricone’s philosophy, your skin is a reflection of what’s going on inside your body.  So, the better you take care of you body, the better your skin will appear.  Like the old adage, you are what you eat!

Are Facial Injections Worth It?

I read a report on PR Newswire today stating that more consumers are turning toward topical anti-aging products such as anti eye wrinkle creams rather than dermal fillers (such as Juvederm) and botulism-based based facial injections (such as Botox) due to recent FDA warnings about their potentially harmful side effects.  These side effects range from mild rashes and infections to respiratory failure and death.

The most common negative side effect of the botulism-based injections is a “loss of facial expressiveness” and permanent numbness, where the botulism has damaged the tissue in, and sometimes surrounding, the treated area.  The most commonly reported negative side effects of dermal fillers are infections and rashes in the treated area.  The FDA has even recalled some dermal fillers or required additional warning labels due to reported problems.

I can’t deny that these injections work.  While I haven’t had either treatment personally, I know many who have, and the results, while temporary, were great.  But, with all of the potentially harmful side effects, temporary results and expensive treatments, I am still left wondering, are they worth it?

Anti Eye Wrinkle Treatment Exposed

If you’re reading this, it’s probably because all the other anti eye wrinkle treatments you’ve tried haven’t worked. It’s frustrating when you put all this time and money into finding that product that “does it all” and takes away those wrinkles around your eyes for good. But after using anti eye wrinkle treatments over and over you realize nothing’s happening and you don’t notice any improvement in the existence of your eye wrinkles.

After all that, you watch a commercial or find an ad online for a product that is proclaimed as “The Wonder Anti Eye Wrinkle Cream” or the cream that can erase any amount of wrinkles or circles around your eyes. You register for a free trial, finally receive the product in the mail and find out this doesn’t work either.
Now you’re wondering, “How can I find an anti eye wrinkle treatment that works for me?”  So you’ve taken the first step to finding a REAL anti eye wrinkle treatment. You’ve decided to get some solid information using expert research and not just someone’s opinion. That’s great!

So let’s find out what the experts say:

- Only use products that contain natural or organic ingredients, preferably those with vitamins and minerals. This helps boost your skins ability to nourish and moisturize itself while producing collagen.

- Try to use products that contain amino acid proteins or peptides, which help prevent future breakdown of skin cells.

- Never use anything containing chemicals or synthetic ingredients including alcohol, unnatural acids, parabens, or mineral oil. These can damage skin cells and even prevent further generation of new skin cells.

- Use products containing antioxidants, which helps heal damaged skin cells.

Nearly every doctor and researcher who studies skin care today believes big companies marketing skin care products often “claim” their products are the solution to preventing eye wrinkles. Not only that, but they also agree that some companies are blatantly misleading consumers. The only way to prevent yourself from being mislead is to make sure the product you choose exhibits the qualities mentioned above.

Be careful whenever you put anything in or on your body. Always read the labels making sure the ingredients are not only safe but they are proven to be effective. Find out which eye skin care products are better than others.

How to Prevent Eye Wrinkles: Anti Eye Wrinkle Techniques

You can prevent eye wrinkles by using a high-quality anti eye wrinkle cream on a daily basis, always wearing sunscreen and wearing sun glasses regularly. This video also advises not sleeping on your face at night because it scrunches the skin and breaks down collagen and elastin. While this is recommended, it is understandably not always possible, since most people unknowingly switch sleeping positions frequently throughout the night. This video does a good job of demonstrating the proper way to apply anti eye wrinkle cream without damaging the thin, fragile skin around the eye.
