Anti Aging Foods and Antioxidants

Your body needs specific nutrients to remain healthy. Antiaging foods are packed with all the necessary vitamins and minerals you need to maintain health and be eye wrinkle free. Having a poor diet and exposure to excessive pollutants increases the free radicals in our body. The best anti aging foods contain antioxidants that allow your body to mop up the free radicals coupled with the best eye creams for true anti aging perfection.

Free Radicals

A free radical is basically an unstable molecule that runs astray. These molecules go about damaging membranes, weakening arteries and attacking the DNA. All contributors to the aging process.  While free radicals do occur naturally and burn food for energy, they are also generated by UV radiation, alcohol, environmental pollutants, cigarettes, damaged oils and food additives.

Anti-oxidants.

Anti oxidants provide protection from free radicals. Insufficient anti oxidants in our diet can cause what is known as oxidative stress. This is most damaging at the cellular level where the cell membrane becomes less able to deliver nutrients and remove wastes. Free radicals deplete enzymes by destroying proteins and alter DNA. The precursor of cancer.

Antioxidants And Anti Aging Foods

The main ways to top up antioxidants into your diet is by, taking anti oxidant based supplements - essential nutrients, and by consuming anti oxidant rich foods such as;

Berries - All blue and black berries, blueberries, blackberries, prunes and black currants contain antioxidants and are powerful antiaging foods.
Top of the list is the goji berry, with an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) score of 25,000 that is 1000% more than blueberries. They also contain more vitamin c than citrus and have the highest level of cartenoids of any plant.

Cruciferous vegetables - These vegetables include broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, radish watercress and Kale. Kale is the best antioxidant vegetable with the highest levels of lutein of any food - eye nutrition. Best eaten raw they should be consumed on a daily basis, you can use just one or a combination, work on about 110 - 120gm per serve.

Avocado - The avocado is a great antiaging food and source of the important vitamin E.  Helps to maintain healthy skin and prevent skin from aging .

Chocolate! - Cocoa has been used therapeutically for hundreds of years and now we understand why it has proved beneficial. Dark chocolate containing 70% cocoa is among the most powerful antioxidants in the world with a ORAC of 13,500. Try to find chocolate-coated goji berries.
Note; This does not apply to milk chocolate, adding milk to chocolate negates any anti-oxidant effects, sorry.

Other best antiaging foods include, garlic, ginger and nuts, adding nuts to your diet  can  improve your skin, the immune and digestive systems and help prevent cancer.

Create an Ageless Complexion and Hide Dark Circles with Concealer

I turned on the local news yesterday morning to check the weather, and a “makeup artist to the stars” was being interviewed about her makeup tips to creating a flawless complexion.  Her secret weapon?  Concealer!  She explained the importance of using concealer around the eyes to get rid of dark circles and reduce the appearance of puffy eye bags and eye wrinkles.

The color concealer you should buy depends on your skin type.  In general, you should buy a concealer that is one shade lighter than the rest of your skin, so that your eye area appears bright and awake.  When choosing a concealer, dab a little on the palest part of your hand or wrist.  If you’re able to blend it in until you can’t see it anymore, then that is the right shade for you.

One of the best concealers that I’ve found is the Non Surgical Solutions Dark Circle Eraser with Magic Concealer.

Conceal Dark Circles

It not only camouflages dark circles on the skin’s surface, but it also works beneath the surface to reduce puffy eye bags, eye wrinkles and dark blue and purple shadows.  With ingredients such as aloe vera, which moisturizes the eye area and boosts collagen production, antioxidant-rich green tea extract and skin-firming anti inflammatory white tea and caffeine, the Dark Circle Eraser could be classified as a concealer and eye wrinkle cream!

Have you had good luck with a particular concealer?

How To Make Skin Look Younger - Secrets Revealed

We all wish we knew the secret to how to make skin look younger.  We all want that healthy glow and smooth complexion that speaks of vitality and good health, you know, void of puffy eyes!  Usually, we take it for granted until one day we look into the mirror, and notice our complexion has grown tired and dull. Luckily, you don’t need to take expensive and extreme measures in order to improve your skin, but you do need to find the best eye wrinkle cream.

For healthy, younger looking skin, the secret is to feed your skin healthy ingredients from the inside out. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables for the antioxidants, and drink lots of water. Find eye skin care products that are clinically proven to rejuvenate skin to make more collagen and elastin.  Some high quality anti-aging ingredients to look for are Cynergy TK, Phytessence Wakame, and Nanobelle CoenzymeQ10.

One of the biggest problems is separating fact from fiction and finding under eye wrinkle products that live up to the marketing hype. Products must have adequate active ingredients in order to give visible results.

You may be surprised to learn that the big name cosmetic and skin care lines are not necessarily the ones with the best products and ingredients, nor are they the companies that do the most research. Often they include a tiny amount of an ingredient, just so they can list it on the label. Often you are disappointed by the results.

Follow this simple advice when shopping for skincare lines:
Look for natural ingredients.

  • Avoid products that contain petroleum.
  • Seek products that have proven results through clinical studies.
  • Avoid artificial chemicals, and look for safe natural ingredients.
  • Make sure adequate amounts of active ingredients are included.

The best companies are not those who spend the most on advertising. Many speciality companies actually spend more on research than large companies who spend more on advertising.  Learning how to make skin look younger can be as simple as doing your research so you can be an educated consumer before you go shopping.

Prevent Eye Wrinkles with Sunscreen in Eye Wrinkle Cream

I read on MSNBC that a new study by San Diego State University has found that “in many places there are more tanning salons than Starbucks or McDonalds.”  Despite all of the research linking UV radiation with skin cancer risks and premature aging, there are still a large number of indoor tanning salons in America’s biggest cities.

The affordable pricing packages and convenience of indoor tanning salons may seem tempting, but the bottom line is that UV radiation - from the sun or tanning beds - is proven to cause premature eye wrinkles and increases your risk of skin cancer.  Not worth the risk in my opinion!

To protect yourself from sun damage and prevent eye wrinkles, you should do two things:

1. Do not use indoor tanning beds, and avoid excessive sun exposure.

2. Wear sunscreen every day, and use an eye wrinkle cream that contains sunscreen.  Do not simply apply the same sunscreen around your eyes that you use all over your body.  The skin around the eye area is very thin, delicate and does not retain much moisture, so it requires a cream that is specifically formulated for its needs.

One of the best eye creams with sunscreen that I’ve found is Dermalogica Total Eye Care.

Dermalogica Eye Cream

What I like about this eye cream is that it reduces current eye wrinkles with its alpha hydroxy acids and prevents future eye wrinkles with spf 15 sunscreen.  Plus, it is also tinted with optical light-diffusers to diminish the appearance of dark circles.

Wake Up Your Eyes with Caffeine in Eye Wrinkle Cream

I like to start my morning with a hot cup of coffee to help wake me up.  But, did you know that caffeine can make your eyes look more awake too?  Caffeine is now being used topically and is quickly becoming a popular ingredient in eye wrinkle cream.

I read a press release from the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine that describes caffeine as “a new exciting product used in many topical creams both as an anti-inflammatory product as well as an antioxidant.”  Antioxidants help prevent eye wrinkles, because they protect against the free radicals that cause eye wrinkles and other signs of aging.  As an anti-inflammatory agent, caffeine also reduces puffiness under eyes.

Dr. Melissa Babcock is quoted in the press release as saying that “caffeine is best known for its ability to cause vasoconstriction (the ability to make blood vessels smaller) and therein to decrease redness in skin.”  This indicates that caffeine can also decrease the appearance of dark circles, which are more apparent as we age because the skin around the eyes thins, allowing blood vessels to show through.  Constricting these blood vessels and decreasing redness will also reduce dark circles under the eyes.

One eye wrinkle cream that I recommend that contains caffeine is Olay Professional ProX Eye Restoration Complex.  In addition to caffeine, it contains tocopherol (vitamin E) and panthanol, which hydrate the skin, and peptides, which stimulate collagen production.  The combination of these ingredients makes this Olay eye cream an effective “do-it-all” product to reduce eye wrinkles, dark circles and eye puffiness.

Better yet, there is a great deal on Olay eye products right now.  Through March 8, 2009, if you purchase $50 worth of Olay Professional ProX products, you’ll get a $25 rebate!
